Claudia Tambussi

I have had the privilege of being part of an exciting journey spanning over three decades dedicated to scientific research and communication. This journey has been highly successful, allowing me not only to satisfy my personal curiosity but also to share my findings and knowledge with others, as well as to train the next generation that will eventually take the helm of this exciting journey.

I consider myself a highly organized and meticulous professional with extensive experience in scientific research within the field of natural sciences. I possess outstanding skills in developing scientific projects, as well as proficiency in all editorial stages required for the publication of scientific, technical, and literary texts.

Skills:

In the field of research, I demonstrate proven proficiency in conducting research projects, as well as skills in securing funding and preparing detailed reports. In the editorial domain, I possess a solid background in reviewing proposals and providing editorial oversight for works related to public communication of science and scientific research. My career trajectory and professional maturity allow me to assert emphatically that I do not engage in topics that I am unfamiliar with, and my commitment and responsibility ensure the successful completion of the projects I undertake.

Editorial Work

My editorial work encompasses tasks such as analyzing editorial proposals, tracking and evaluating works related to the public communication of science and scientific research. Additionally, I am the author of several published books.

Scientific Work

As Principal Researcher, National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), Argentina. Since 1990.

My research has focused on the systematics and evolution of fossil birds in South America and Antarctica, addressing aspects such as functional morphology, morphometric geometry, biomechanics, and paleoneurology.

Some milestones in my scientific career include:

- Author of more than a hundred scientific papers published in the highest-ranking journals in the field, cited by colleagues on more than 2700 occasions, with over 48,000 reads. H-index 22 (Scopus, January 2024).

- Two of our works were selected for the cover of the leading journal in our field (Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, Volume 35, 2015 - Issue 2 and Volume 35, 2015 - Issue 5).

- Director of 16 national and international research projects.

- I was the first female Argentine researcher in the field of Vertebrate Paleontology to participate in an Antarctic campaign. In total, I took part in three Antarctic campaigns, collecting significant fossil materials for study. Additionally, I have been involved in over twenty fieldwork expeditions in both Argentine and Spanish territories.
